How and when do I win the kayak race? 11 hints left

When you pick up the last piece of the tiki in the sub --

-- you'll get a text message telling you about the kayak race. Hey, as soon as you saw those kayaks, you knew this was coming, right?

Hint 3

It's not so much a flat-out race as it is an obstacle course. You need to hit the colored markers in the sound in a specific order as fast as you can, and that means you need to know exactly where they are and the shortest route to take. Read to the end of this hint for the fastest route I found.

Hint 4

First, you need to decide which kayak to use. I tried them all and couldn't discover any difference in the way they handle, contrary to Leena's notes on the clipboard; however, it's up to you. If you use one and have problems, try one of the others. I usually default to the red one.

Hint 5

And now for the actual race. You have to tap the colored markers in a specific order, and it's not a logical order. You'll be backtracking a couple of times to reach them in order.

The markers are distributed in a circle around the central island. Starting from the dock and going around to the left, they are blue, purple, red, green, and yellow. The problem is --

-- that the order you're supposed to tap them in is blue, green, red, yellow, purple.

Hint 8

This can all get confusing, but there are ways to make it simpler. For one thing, play in a window rather than full-screen; that way, you can click outside the window to freeze the game while you figure out what to do.

Also, you might want to do a few practice runs first just to see where you're going without the tick-tock going the whole time.

Hint 10

Your goal is to beat the next fastest time. If you're playing the amateur game, that's 5:57; if you're playing the master game, it's 5:16.
