How do I get to the other areas on the map? 2 hints left

Hint 1

To the left of the Puzzle Palace, there's a large wooden arch with a small Pacific Run screen next to it. That's the map. Once you get the map working, click on it to travel to other areas.

Hint 2

Read on for details on how you gain access to those other areas, many of which require a password. Be aware that none of these passwords will work until you learn them in the course of the game; just reading these hints and typing them in won't have any effect.
