What chemical should I be making, and how? 15 hints left

Hint 1

You can't make any chemicals here (at the station to the left as you enter the lab) until you know why you want one --

-- and have all the chemicals you need.

Also, you'll need the "Solutions" notebook, found on the left of the two tables in the center of the room.

Hint 4

The "Solutions" book lists different solutions to be used to etch different types of wafers. In this case, the wafers we'll be using are labeled "silicon wafers." That means we need the solution for Si, or silicon, wafers, the second solution listed.

Hint 5

That means we need to combine hydrofluoric acid, nitric acid, and water in the proportions listed. Read to the end of this hint for step-by-step directions.

First, you need to figure out what chemicals are in each bottle. You'll find a periodic table of the elements on the first floor bulletin board next to the lab --

-- but I'll also just tell you that HF is hydrofluoric acid, HNO3 is nitric acid, and H2O is water.

Hint 8

Problem 2 is that you only have two measuring flasks, one 3 units and one 4 units. But you'll be relieved to know that this isn't going to be one of THOSE puzzles; it's actually pretty easy to get the amounts you need.

Hint 9

For the parts of the formula that require those proportions, just pick up the bottle, click it on the flask you need, then put the filled flask on the empty beaker in the middle. The list at the left will help you keep track of what's in the beaker.

Hint 10

If your formula includes one unit of a chemical, that's not too hard. Fill the 4-unit flask, then pour it into the 3-unit flask. You can then pour the remaining single unit into the beaker.

Hint 11

If you need two units, just repeat the process for one unit twice.

Hint 12

You don't need to add the ingredients in the order listed. As long as you end up with the correct amounts, you'll be fine.

Hint 13

If you accidentally add something you don't want, or too much of a chemical, pick up the beaker and click it on the "Hazardous Waste Disposal" bin at right. If you try to bottle it you'll blow up, but if you toss it you'll be fine.

Hint 14

When you think you have the mix you need, pick up the beaker and click it on the large brown bottles at the upper left. Put the bottle in your inventory -- if it didn't blow up, that is.
